Immovable Feast

IF YOU ARE (UN)LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE LIVED IN THE SUBURBS AS A YOUNG MAN, THEN WHEREVER YOU GO IN LIFE ITS GRAVITY PULLS YOU BACK, FOR THE SUBURBS ARE AN IMMOVABLE FEAST

Written, performed, recorded and produced by Bryce Thomas in his home studio, IMMOVABLE FEAST features 11 folk-rock infused songs expressing the highs and lows of being run-aground in the suburbs. With echoes of Simon & Garfunkel, The Waterboys, and David Bowie, Bryce’s third album artfully continues his lush narrative of life, love and libatious lingerings, crafted through Bryce’s signature multi-layered vocals, driving rhythms, multi-instrument orchestration and evocative lyrics.

Immovable Feast Lyrics

YOU BELONG TO ME

Feel so tired ya I’m not sleep’n, Come the night my head is buzz’n, And you say “It’s the same for me”, Lost all sense of really know’n, How far we’ve come and where we’re goin’, All I know is you belong to me, ya You belong to me, So pick me up and lift me higher, You are the spark to my old desires, All I want is you to sing for me, Now here we are many years later, We’ve got the kids to keep us from failure, And all along you belong to me, Ya you belong to me, I’ll pour the wine, And you draw the blinds, You’re reading my mind, Ya you belong to me, Now here we are many years later, We’ve got the kids to keep us from failure, And all along you belong to me, Ya you belong to me, Catch myself acting shallow and mean, Makin’ all the wrong moves, Saying all the wrong things, You tell me to breathe and be glad you’re my wife, Ya I know what you mean because, You belong to me, Feel so tired, Ya I’m not sleepin’, Come the night my head is buzzin’, Then you say, “You belong to me, Ya you belong to me”

THE WAVES

Let me be the waves that crash against your shore, Let me be the light that lights you up, Let me be the thunder that wakes you from your sleep, And slowly draws you under and lulls you back to sleep, Oh let me be the weight you can’t wait for, Let me be the one that you cannot deny, Let me be the sun to fill your sky, Let me be the wonder that you could not believe, The promise of redemption, The promise that you need, Oh let me be yours tonight, Oh lover lover love me, We can’t go wrong, Let the waves, the waves, the waves, carry us along, Let me be the waves, Let me be the sun, Let me be the promise, Let me be the one, Oh let me be the thunder, And let me be the rain, Oh and let me be the wonder, And let me be yours again, Oh lover lover love me, We can’t go wrong, Let the waves, the waves, the waves, carry us along

ILLUSION

So it comes back to me, Bottle wine 3am, And the moon arcs high, Over you and I, I’m watchin’ you watchin’ me, Wait and see, Come let’s walk to the shore, We’ll strip right down and wade on in, And remember why, There’s a you and I, We’ll be here till the sun gets up, And we float, Float so far, Till we rise and become the stars, An illusion, This illusion won’t fade, Oh we thought we got away, And yet here we stay, You say how can we leave? How could we ever leave? Leave this all behind? And you know, Know so damn well, I’ll never give up, Till we reach the stars, An illusion, This illusion won’t fade, Oh we thought we got away, And yet here we stay, Ya we’ll find a way to make this all okay, And clean the slate, this I promise you, I promise you, And we float, Float so far, Till we rise and become the stars, An illusion, This illusion won’t fade, Oh we thought we got away, And yet here we stay, We stay

SUBURBAN WRECK

We got a real big car that we haven’t paid off yet, And a big mortgage that we’ll have until we’re dead, Drive our kids to the real big school fair, Shoot the s—t with parents that don’t swear, And our Big neighbours get a real big flu shot, We fill our houses with crap from a big box, We don’t even need it now, Can’t even use it now, Don’t even need it now, Suburban life’s like an automobile wreck, You’d hit the brakes but you’re already in it, Suburban life’s like an automobile wreck, Rubber necking is all the action that you get, Suburban life’s like an automobile wreck, You’d hit the brakes but you’re already in it, Suburban life’s like an automobile wreck, Lose your mind tryin’ to get to an exit, I can’t even see one now, Can’t even get out, Can’t even find a way way out, Oh ya, who’s to notice anyway? Oh ya, we’re all a little tired, Ah whom I am kidding, we’re really f-n tired

SOUL RIGHT

Give a little time, Give a little grace, Give a little hell, We’re gonna be great, Give a little smile, Give a little faith, Give a little warmth, “We’re gonna be late”, When she’s alive I’m aloof, And in it all, one more truth, When she’s within, I’m without, But we will try to sort this out, Takes a long life to get your soul right, Takes all you got and then some, Never wanted this to be, I’m trying hard, so hard to see Will we break or will we fall? Or will we rise above it all? Takes a long life to get your soul right, Takes all you got and then some, Someone like you, All my life I’ve tried to fight, Fight my dark into the light, Light my soul against your flame, Feel your heat and breathe your name, Name my price and pay the cost, Make amends before we’re lost, Lost so much it’s all the same, Same results a different way, Takes a long life to get your soul right, Takes all you got and then some, Someone like you

SKIN

I know you, You get me so confused, Always killin’ time, Makin’ me feel used, Ya I’ll give you up And then give on in, Cause it doesn’t matter what I feel now, Just where you’ve been, Ya we’ll burn one up, And then fall right in, Cause the sun is warm, And so’s your skin, Maybe once the day is gone, with it the people too, We’ll claim this place as our own, Claim the stars and moon, And I’ll lift you up, You can make your move, Cause it doesn’t matter what you feel now, Just what you choose, Ya we’ll burn one up, And then fall right in, Cause the water’s warm, And so’s your skin, Ya we’ll burn one up, And then crawl right in, Cause this place is warm, And so’s your skin

GOOD MORNING MOLLY

Good morning Molly, what’s the problem today? Good morning Molly, she hears everyone say, And all the girls at school want to be Molly, And all the boys at school want to be with Molly, On a Friday night party scene Molly takes the stage like a little queen, But when the morning starts the day, All Molly hears is some guy say, Good Morning Molly, So Molly dear, can’t you see what’s wrong? Oh Molly dear, you’ve been strung along, Cause no one really wants to see Molly, No one really wants to talk to Molly, And she’ll never hear another word from all those guys Molly’s heard, Say Good Morning Molly, Everyone is Molly’s friend, they’ll love Molly to the end, If only Molly could see, No one thinks she’s worth the novelty, Who knows when it got started? Just that it’s so ironic, That she’s still broken hearted, Good Morning Molly

BREATH

They hid from the rain, blue striped awning, And her face lit up like a rocket jet, And it said, “Let me leave with you my breath”, Take control, Count it down, Ya they bounced off the moon and made some squishy sound, Just lean a little bit and they’ll gone I bet, Let me leave with you my breath, They slid through the night, backstreet haunting, And her eyes opened wide like a newborn sky, And they said, “Home to bed”, Let me leave with you my breath

SELDOM

Oh my eyes they burn from the smoke you blew in them, Makes me blind to the lives that we designed, To the things we do, Oh the years they turn upon my youth swiftly, Grinds it down till my laughter makes no sound, Until I’m beat and bruised, But I’ll seldom do you wrong, Oh my ears they burn from the smoke you blew in them, Makes me wild and all tangled round inside, Oh ya the things we do, But I’ll seldom do you wrong, We were lookin’ to move away, Live upon the shore, Pressed up to the sea But we’re too rooted to this place to ever leave, But in this believe, I’ll seldom do you wrong, Oh my heart it burns from the smoke you blew

500 POUNDS

500 pounds comin’ down, Where were we when the world lost its grip on the sky? My oh my what will the neighbours say? Where were we when the sky lost its hold on the clouds? Tumbling down to meet their house below, 500 pounds comin’ down, Was it just a freak of nature spinning out a freaky little world? Was it just a Friday feature, “popped a seal”, “we’ll fix it later” world? Someone call out the dogs, Someone call out their names, Someone call out whoever here’s to blame, Throw them out they’ve clearly earned their fame, Evening night constellations, you wear them well, And carry all the things they never taught at school, They teach you how to fly? Or just how to try? Someone call out the dogs, Someone call out their names, Someone call out whoever here’s to blame, Throw them out they’ve clearly earned their fame, Evening night constellations, you wear them so well, And carry all the things they never taught at school, They teach you how to fly? Or just how to die?

AFTERTASTE

I believe it’s true, That I can see in you, All these changes in me, Comin’ round, So where you goin’ today? I can’t seem to let you in, Born to question my fate and the bitter aftertaste, Thought I’d play the rich man, But the money it never stays, Thought I’d play the lover, Oh but my lover’s too tired to play, Thought I’d battle through somehow, But I’m standing in my way, Then you whisper, Whisper to me, I will wait here till I’m feelin’ strong again, Hoping beyond hope that I’m not too broken, It’s time to begin again, I believe it’s true, That I can see in you, All these changes in me, Comin’ round
